March 20, 2010 - 912/356 St. Patty's Day Drive  This year we've cooked up something new. Yes, we'll still be meeting at the same Marie Callender's in San Juan Capistrano, CA as in previous years:  Click for map   We'll sit down for breakfast at 8 AM and leave the restaurant parking lot at 9:00. From there we'll head up the Ortega Highway and down through the Lake Elsinore area as usual. We'll run through some of Riverside and San Diego County's great back roads and then we'll end up in Fallbrook at California Porsche Restoration.   CPR will host a BBQ for us and give us a shop tour. It should be fun, as they focus on 911 and 912 restoration and sales. They have a beautiful shop and it will be neat to see.   If you want a limited edition T-shirt, email Pet McNulty at PMcNulty98@aol.com  and he'll hook you up. It will cost $20 and the proceeds will be split between the 356 Club and 912 Registry. Please contact him by Wednesday March 17th, 2010 to reserve your shirt!   OK, so to sum it up:   8 AM in San Juan Capistrano for breakfast 9 AM Leave on the drive 11:30 AM Arrive at California Porsche Restoration   Be there!

April 9 - 11, 2010 - The California Festival of Speed is being held on at the Auto Club Speedway (formerly the California Speedway) in Fontana. This is a fabulous weekend of PCA Club Racing which brings some of the finest Porsche racers you’ll find anywhere. Teams like Greg Franz’s Pirelli Cup,  James Sofronas with his Global Motorsports Group who last year ran the 24 Hours at Dayton, Kevin Buckler’s The Racers Group and Loren Beggs and 911 Design as well as many others. The American Le Mans Series is the only other series that comes close to this quality of Porsche racing. In addition to the fabulous Club Racing, there are Time Trials, a Concours d’ Elegance, Vendor’s Row, Car Corrals, Festival Goodie Store and lunchtime Track Tours. We are again looking forward to Porsche Cars North America hosting an autocross style test drive opportunity. We are also again having lunch time Track Tours which allow everyone an opportunity to drive the actual track (at parade lap speed). Whether it is in a Porsche or in the family station wagon with the family, everyone with a valid driver’s license is allowed on the track at the noon time break for a lap or two for $20.00 a car.  There is a 912 Porsche Corral for Saturday and Sunday. Please contact us and RSVP for the corral. We will exempt the $10.00 parking fee for groups of 20 cars or more.  To RSVP for the corral contact john@bentonperformance.com Once we have the groups set up we can meet at the speedway check in lot and then parade in. You can arrive later if you have to and we will save your spot if you RSVP. The Festival relies on volunteer workers and will be again this year. It is a small jump from attending to volunteering to work a 4-hour shift while at the event. If you would like to participate in the Concour or volunteer please contact SuesanWay@pobox.com

April 17, 2010 - Dear all, Rick and I have organised a rolling road day for the Porsche Club Great Britian 912 Register. The event will take place at Paramount Performance in Slough on Saturday 17th April 2010. If you are a member of PCGB then the event will be free of charge. It does only cost £62 to join and the normal fee for the rolling road would be £45 so in effect you're getting a year's membership for £17. For this you'll recieve the monthly magazine, and we are organising many events for 912s only. Non-PCGB members are still welcome, but you'll have to pay the cover charge. For the rolling road day, we can accommodate 20 cars and are expecting a couple of 912s from the Porsche Club France. Paramount Performance have donated a prize for the 912 with the highest bhp. In addition to being reported in Porsche Post, we have 2 journalists attending on the day from well known classic car magazines (details to follow). Each car will get a couple of runs on the rolling road and will have a graph supplied for you to keep. The rolling road is designed to show how our cars are performing. The graph will display power and torque characteristics across the rev range. Besides being interesting to view and compare, the results can be used for tuning and maintaining our cars. After the rolling road event, there will be a photo-shoot with a professional photographer. This will be followed by a scenic drive (approx 1 hour) to a pub/restaurant with good secure parking, where we hope you will join us for a few non-alcoholic beverages and something to eat as we recap on a great day. In order to reserve your place, please can you email paul.sutters@ubs.com with details of your car year and registration. Many thanks Paul Sutters & Rick Horvath
