From: Steve Van Stockum, 1969 912 Coupe, California; We just got this car from it's third owner, who purchased it in 1990. My 19 year old and 15 year old daughters will help restore it. It's been repainted twice, and is currently Guards Red. I also have a concourse restored 1962 356B, and a restored 1976 912E. I belong to the PCA, the 912 Registry, and the 356 Registry.

I have owned my 1967 912 since new, and since it has turned over 400,000 I think it's time to rebuild. I want to upgrade the engine to at least 1800 cc. Does anyway have a lead on a jug & piston set? Interests: Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show, Rallies, Autocross, Racing; Membership Committee From: Sarah Malacarne, Irish Green 1969 912 coupe; My Dad bought it when I was about 12 and sold it when I was 15. Last year my brother-in-law found it and we bought it back from the guy my Dad sold it to. It is very near and dear to my heart since my Dad past away. Unfortunately the car did not have a motor. My husband and I bought a 1970 911t and have rebuilt the 6cyl motor and are getting ready to put it in the 912. I bought the car from David Corbet but I am trying to trace it's history. I know that my Dad was the owner before David. I know there was some racing in the car's history but would like to find out more. Do you know how I can trace this? With a short VIN number I have found it difficult. From: Greg Greer, 1965 912, North Carolina; This is a Porsche 912 that my dad and I purchased in Marion, NC in June of 1989. We brought it back to our home in Boone, NC, where it has resided ever since then. It is only driven in the spring, summer, and fall months. Through the years, we have managed to learn a lot about our specific 912. We tend to almost all its maintenance and upkeep ourselves. We absolutely love the 912. It has been a great experience. Still original color, used for touring; Interests: Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show; Technical Committee

I bought the car from my dad when I was sixteen. I raced the car in time trials from 1976 until 1985. The car has always been in Southern California. From: Steve Reevy; '67 911/912;I own a 1967 softwindow targa 911 that began life as a 912 (chassis #550122) and was "converted" at some later stage (at least 20 years ago) with a 1968 dual-Webber 911 engine. The original color was Aga Blue (paint code 97-6608-L) but it was beautifully painted black probably about the same time as the conversion. Have toyed with converting it back to 912 spec, but I really like the 911 power! :-) Awesome car! About my adventure into the world of our unique cars: I lived in England from 1965 till mid-1975 & went through high school & college there. I first became aware of the 911/912 while in high school. It was a pretty new design then & I thought they were cool looking. I spent the academic year 1969-70 in London & that's when I saw my first SWT... and I knew I wanted one! Fast forward to 2005 through 30+ years of my telling everyone who would listen that the 1967 SWT 911/912 is my dream car. I was cruising eBay all (35,000 or so) cars & trucks sorted geographically with the closest listed first. On about page 3 there was my car, only 50 miles from my house. I said to my wife: "All these years of my saying I want a Porsche I have been talking about this exact year & model" She said "Buy it." (I LOVE that woman!!!) I didn't want to spend the money but my whole family insisted that I buy it, so I did. I have a 67 mile daily commute round trip & I've been driving it as often as I can for the past 6 months. It's really a head-turner! Every day at least one car goes by with someone giving me the thumbs up. It'll pretty much sit in the garage now till late April because of the road salt, but I will still drive it when the pavement has been bare & dry for 3 or 4 consecutive days. I'm glad they've got great heaters! Our SWT came to us from a couple who had owned it for 19 years. They own 2 other 911s & decided to sell the oldest of the 3. The 911 "upgrade" was done before they bought it. The conversion to a 911 was done very professionally. The trim, etc. is all for a 911. The engine is a 130 hp USA 911, pre-911S engine from 1968. With the top & rear window & side windows all closed, there' very little difference between driving 70 and driving 80 to 85. Steve |
